Healing War Wounds with Shamanism: A Journey Through PTSD and Past Life Recall (PLR)

Healing War Wounds with Shamanism: A Journey Through PTSD and Past Life Recall (PLR)

When Alex (not his real name) first sought shamanic healing, he was looking for relief from the PTSD that had defined his life since his time in the military. He suffered from relentless nightmares, flashbacks, and a gnawing sense of guilt and anxiety that never left him. But as we began to work together, it became clear that the pain he carried wasn’t just from this life.

Alex’s story wasn’t uncommon among veterans I’ve worked with. The trauma of war leaves marks not only on the mind and body but also on the soul. What set Alex’s journey apart was the discovery that his wounds were rooted in experiences that transcended his current lifetime.

The Unfolding of Past Life Memories

Our sessions started with grounding rituals and guided breathwork to help Alex feel safe in his body. As we deepened our work, I introduced shamanic journeying, a meditative state where Alex could explore his inner world and connect with his spirit guides.

During one journey, Alex had a vivid vision: he was a soldier in a distant time, standing on a battlefield that was eerily familiar yet foreign. He described the smell of smoke, the clang of metal, and the overwhelming sense of loss. This wasn’t a memory from his current life but a glimpse into a past life where he had also fought in a brutal war.

The trauma from that life mirrored what he was experiencing now: the weight of survival, the grief of lost comrades, and the unshakable guilt of actions taken in the heat of battle.

Connecting the Threads

In shamanic terms, unresolved trauma from past lives can bleed into the present, creating patterns that repeat across lifetimes. For Alex, his current PTSD wasn’t just about his military service, it was the culmination of soul wounds carried over from lifetimes of war and conflict.

Through ceremony and guided PLR (Past Life Recall), Alex began to see the connections between his past and present selves. He realized that his hypervigilance and guilt weren’t just reactions to his recent experiences but echoes of unresolved pain from his soul’s journey.

Soul Retrieval and Releasing Karmic Patterns

To help Alex heal, we performed a soul retrieval, a practice that retrieves lost fragments of the soul that become separated during traumatic events.

In one session, we revisited the battlefield from his past life. With the guidance of his spirit helpers, Alex found the younger version of himself—broken, grieving, and frozen in time. Through ceremony, he embraced this past self, offering forgiveness and releasing the burden of guilt he had carried for centuries.

We also worked on releasing karmic patterns tied to war. Through rituals involving fire and water, Alex symbolically let go of the energy of violence and survival, replacing it with peace and compassion.

Integration and Transformation

The integration process was crucial. Healing from both present-life and past-life trauma requires anchoring the soul back into the body.

Grounding Practices: Alex learned to reconnect with nature through barefoot walks, tree meditations, and rituals involving the earth.

Creative Expression: I encouraged him to write about his experiences as a way of giving voice to what he had suppressed.

Ancestral Connection: Alex also worked on healing his lineage, recognizing that his military service was part of a family legacy tied to war.

As Alex began to integrate his healing, his nightmares subsided, and his flashbacks became less frequent. He described feeling a sense of peace he hadn’t experienced in years—a peace that transcended this lifetime.

The Bigger Lesson

War leaves wounds that extend beyond the battlefield and beyond the limits of one lifetime. Shamanic practices like soul retrieval and past life recall offer a powerful way to address these deep, soul-level injuries, helping individuals release karmic patterns and reclaim their wholeness.

For Alex, the journey wasn’t just about healing PTSD from this life, it was about breaking a cycle of pain that had followed him for generations. Through this work, he not only found relief but also a renewed sense of purpose and clarity.

If you or someone you know is navigating the scars of war, whether from this life or beyond, know that healing is possible. The soul is resilient, and with the right tools, you can find peace, purpose, and a way forward.
